About Limetax

Limetax is building the agentic-first accounting and tax group for German SMEs.

We acquire established accounting and tax advisory firms and onboard them to our proprietary agentic platform, combining deep industry expertise with AI-native technology.

Backed by $40m in equity and debt from top-tier investors, we're building and scaling a new kind of accounting & tax group in Germany.

Our founders bring significant experience across M&A, operations, and AI-native technology, having previously built and scaled unicorns, Razor Group and Augustus.

The Role

As a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) Intern, you'll join our engineering team to build technology that changes how accounting and tax work gets done.

This is not an internship built around shadowing, isolated exercises, or predefined support tasks. You'll take end-to-end ownership of a meaningful, clearly scoped technical problem, work alongside experienced engineers, and contribute to systems used in real operational environments.

Depending on your strengths and interests, you may work on applied AI systems, product engineering, data infrastructure, internal tools, or workflow automation. You'll learn how to move from an ambiguous problem to a reliable production solution — and where speed, technical quality, and domain constraints need to be balanced.

We don't expect you to arrive knowing German tax law. We do expect you to be curious, technically strong, and excited to understand a complex domain.

What You'll Work On

  • Production Engineering. Design, build, test, and deploy software that supports real accounting and tax workflows.
  • Applied AI. Build with LLMs, retrieval systems, document intelligence, and agentic workflows while learning where deterministic logic and human oversight are required.
  • Product Development. Work closely with engineers, operators, and tax professionals to understand problems, prototype solutions, and iterate based on real-world feedback.
  • Data & Integrations. Build APIs, data pipelines, and integrations across modern and legacy systems.
  • Reliability & Evaluation. Help develop tests, evaluations, monitoring, and feedback loops that make our systems dependable in high-stakes workflows.
  • End-to-end Ownership. Take a clearly scoped problem from exploration and system design through implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement.

Your Profile

  • You are a strong builder. You have created software beyond standard coursework — through personal projects, open-source contributions, previous internships, research, or an ambitious university project. We value exceptional technical work over a specific educational path.
  • You have strong technical foundations. You are comfortable with data structures, algorithms, databases, APIs, and modern software-development practices.
  • You have high agency. You make progress without perfectly defined requirements, ask sharp questions, and take responsibility for getting to a working result.
  • You think like an engineer. You write clear, maintainable code and think about testing, reliability, security, edge cases, and failure modes — not only the happy path.
  • You are AI-native. You use modern AI tools in your work and ideally have hands-on experience building with LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, or other applied AI technologies.
  • You have strong product intuition. You want to understand the user and the underlying problem instead of implementing requirements mechanically.
  • You communicate clearly in English. German is helpful, particularly for projects involving direct collaboration with our tax advisory teams, but is not required for every project.

Why Limetax

  • Real responsibility. Own a meaningful technical problem rather than completing artificial internship assignments.
  • Real production environments. Work with operational workflows, documents, transactions, and domain knowledge from established accounting and tax firms.
  • Close mentorship. Build alongside experienced engineers and receive direct feedback on system design, implementation, and product decisions.
  • Fast feedback loops. See how users interact with what you build and improve it based on real-world results.
  • Modern engineering. Work with contemporary infrastructure, AI-assisted development tools, and an AI-native engineering culture.
  • Early-stage impact. Help shape the systems and engineering practices that will define how Limetax scales.
  • Path to a full-time role. We see the internship as a potential starting point for joining Limetax after graduation.
  • Competitive compensation. Receive a competitive internship salary, with relocation support considered where appropriate.
